Department of English was established in Oct 2014, when university laid setup of faculty of social sciences and humanities in its campus. The undergraduate programs of BS English and M.A. English have strength of more than 150 students. MS/ M. Phil studies involves 30 credit hours course work followed by comprehensive exam and research work to develop new scientific knowledge, critical thinking, problem-solving strategies, active learning, self-realization, and participation in research discoveries. The research criteria is not limited to one domain and therefore, incorporates interdisciplinary collaboration through theoretical practice and scientific study of the language. This program will help to enhance language skills and to explore different literary genres. It will help to revisit different dimensions of applied linguistics, written literature and visual narrative from a literary perspective. This will focus on the hypothetical investigation of the literary text and the applications of linguistics. The education mission underpins all aspects of the program, as faculty participates in the practical based teaching of undergraduate that will not only play positive role in training but also help to attain research positions in diverse academic and professional environment.
They also have an opportunity to apply theoretical foundation in a real-world setting.

English is an emerging discipline in the research and academia around the world. In Pakistan, English language skills are in high demand so there is dire need to train the students to meet the existing challenges linguistics and literature. MS/M. Phil program at University of Sialkot will meet the need of market and academician in English language and literature. Our students will serve in various organizations including education, fiction writing, creative writing, magazines, forensic linguistics, neuro-linguistics, computational linguistics, Communicative Language teaching, NGOs, and media.
